Define what counts as a highlight.
A goal, a touchdown, a decisive play, a quote and a breaking-news development require different selection rules. Specify eligible content, moment types, target length and exclusions before judging the results.
Keep the setup and consequence.
The peak moment alone may not tell a complete story. Include enough lead-in to explain what is happening and enough follow-through to show the outcome. Check that replay footage is not mistaken for a new event.
Connect detection to delivery.
A complete workflow ingests the source, proposes moments, applies editorial rules, creates clips, attaches metadata and delivers them to a destination. For live highlights, define how provisional selections are updated or replaced.
Measure quality before volume.
Review missed moments, irrelevant selections, duplicate clips and timing accuracy. Human approval can be retained for important publishing decisions. Once quality is acceptable, measure the time saved and how the resulting clips perform.
